In a world where is so many disinformations circulating around on the Internet and the media, it is a must to find a filter to distinguish the usable knowledge. We have to define a benchmark because the perceived and believed reality makes a difference. Nevertheless, photography and visual perception are in a similar inseparable condition as well. The photographic medium is not only the visual representation of the reality but the extension of the human vision. As every human perceive the world in a different way, the different photographic equipment does the same. So it is hard to talk about the reality and its definition because of its diversity. The only visual reliance is the colour reference chart, which helps to define a photographic image due to its determined construction. My obsession is to find points of reference in the real world which can be used to define the certain.

Two significant events happened in my life in 2017. I turned 30 and I got married. Before the wedding I noticed I was curvier than usual. I have decided to try something I never had the patience for: slowly, gradually changing my lifestyle. I promised myself I won’t be impatient, I won’t force myself to lose 20 kilos in two months, and I’ll leave time for myself. All my life I have tried to feel good in my skin, because this is how I always was, this was my figure. But there were always people around, who made accepting myself difficult. They were usually people close to me. I had a boyfriend who forced me to stand on the scale, to check if I gained weight. He wanted to see if I should start dieting. Years later, before my wedding I was asked if I really needed bridesmaids, because of how I will look on the photos, standing next to my slim girlfriends. All these people meant well.My campaigns in dieting were successful temporarily, but I always gave up after a while. But this time, it worked.I am lucky, because I have found a true partner. He won’t force me on the scale, he will never insult me, while only meaning well and giving me courage. My self-confidence grew greatly since I’m with him. But I have started changing my lifestyle for myself, and learned not to compare myself to others. I have changed a lot. I’m happy about improving my health, and I don’t feel guilty when I sometimes go off-diet. I haven’t become a top model. I’ll never be one, but I’m fine with it. I like my big behind and my belly. I hope my new series will help other to accept themselves as well.

Solotvyno has been a salt mining town for hundreds of years in Subcarpathia region of Ukraine. Mining has played a key role in the local hungarian minority ever since. Salt production has ended in the last decade, but sweet water entering the underground chambers has a devastating effect even now. As salt baths and black mud treatment is popular for joint disease and skin problems, the place is still very popular for it’s healing potential. Maintaining the salt pools needs water supply from the former mine chambers, which gives a way for sweet water to enter. This causes further damage underground. As a chamber collapses, craters appear on the surface that can be even 60 metres deep. Despite the uncertain conditions, bathing tourism is still bringing thousands to the town in the summer. Hungarians typically do not benefit from this business anymore, for most of them mining remains the memory of the golden age which influenced almost every family.

As part of everyday life, the rapid rise of digital technology has led to a number of challenges in our contemporary life. Whilst dream-like scenes created through technology have become increasingly convincing, it is hard to distinguish our conventional understanding of the “real” from new digital realities. This weight of information forces us to sharpen our perceptions in order to avoid digital distraction. For my project, I have constructed a series of photographic images inspired by the visuals of 3D graphics and video games to reveal the characteristics and influence of the digital medium. With their uncertain orientations, a question emerges as to whether what we see represents reality or is merely computer-generated.

I’ve been interested in happiness for a long time. How do we reach it, how do we maintain it? Can anyone be happy? What are the chances for those, who aren’t predestined for happiness? With my photobook Practitioners, I was looking for people, who take an active role in increasing their feeling of happiness. Erika lost her child, but found help in balloon twisting. Maria claims her passion for collecting frogs helped cure her cancer. Some people find happiness after gender reassignment surgery, some find it when keeping pets, but even a rubber crocodile can be its source. Constantly practicing is the key.

The book has five chapters: Togetherness, Hobbies, Pets, Self-realization and Home.Special thanks: Dávid Klág, Linda Lendvai, Vera Vida and all who participated
