Ilias Lois
Void nominates Ilias Lois based on his significant contributions to the Greek photography scene. Recognized as the "Young Greek Photographer" by APhF in 2018 and awarded the "Lensculture Emerging Talent" in 2019 for his series, 'Aisle Seat', Lois serves as the editor of Velvet Eyes magazine and holds a curator role in the Athens Photo Festival. Finally, Ilias also contributes to photography education at the Hellenic Centre of Photography, overseeing project development and fine art photography classes. His work typically involves long-term series, experimenting with the interplay of different photographic genres, mixing quasi-documentary strategies and staged photography. His particular interest in sequencing and non-linear forms of narration aligns with our appreciation for editing and bookmaking.
Katerina Tsakiri
Based in Sweden, Greek artist Katerina Tsakiri explores the female identity in Western culture, specifically concentrating on the female body. Her work captivates us with its focus on intimacy. Demonstrating versatility in her practice, which spans staged photography, video performances, and sculptures, Katerina reveals her multifaceted and visually impactful approach. This is evident in her project 'The Smiley Cut,' a visual chronicle of her journey through cancer treatment. The complexity of the project narrative and the intimate nature of her work lead us to believe that she is a suitable fit as a Void talent.
Klavdia Balampanidou
Klavdia Balampanidou is a Greek photographer based in Nicosia, Cyprus, exploring themes of personal and collective identity, belonging, and mental health. Recognized with the Young Greek Photographers award in 2018 by the Hellenic Center of Photography and named one of the 30 Under 30 Women Photographers by Artpil in 2021, Balampanidou's work has been exhibited in solo and group shows across England, Italy, France, Greece, and Cyprus. Void is captivated by her compelling work in progress, which portrays young individuals detached from urban environments. The dramatic nocturnal ambience, juxtaposed with the harsh flashlight, creates a cinematic atmosphere that aesthetically resonates with the thematic universe our publishing house also explores.
Louiza Vradi
Louiza Vradi, a versatile visual artist, engages in photography, video, new media, textile, painting, and installation, stemming from academic studies at the Athens School of Fine Arts. The subtle interplay between reality and fiction, particularly in social documentary practices, resonates with Void's interest. Vradi seamlessly navigates this nuanced universe in her work. Beyond her artistic pursuits, she has served as an art educator and therapist, offering support for mental and psycho-social challenges, as well as addiction. Her internationally recognized work has been featured in publications like the NYTimes, Le Monde, Vogue, the Guardian, Dazed, Monocle, Penguin Books, etc. Honored by the Greek Documentary Association for her first documentary film about Anna Ivankova's life and death, Vradi's multifaceted practice remains a compelling force.
Tony Docekal
Tony Docekal, based in Amsterdam, is a photographer and visual artist propelled by the pursuit of connection and the ever-shifting nature of identity. Inspired by personal encounters, her work delves into the dynamics of finding a sense of home and navigating uncharted territories, touching on universal themes of human experiences and unconventional living. With a Bachelor's degree in Fine Arts from ArtEZ University of the Arts, Dočekal has earned recognition, including the Olympus Young Talent Award and the Zilveren Camera Portrait. Void came across her project 'The Color of Money and Trees,' providing a poignant narrative that unfolds as a speculative road movie, blurring the line between reality and imagination. Captivated by the project, we are now in the process of creating her first monograph. We believe that Tony is an artist who will benefit immensely from the network offered by FUTURES.
