Meet the artists nominated by Centre Photographique Rouen Normandie in 2024

We are happy to announce another group of artists to join FUTURES this year. The artists were nominated by Centre Photographique Rouen Normandie, they are: Rebecca Topakian, Léonie Pondevie, Rebekka Deubner, and Hélène Bellenger.

They will join the platform’s activities to present their work to international professionals and to network, amongst other opportunities that will be developed for them, including exhibitions, publishing opportunities, portfolio reviews, and more.

Rebecca Topakian

After studying philosophy and geography, Topakian turned to photography and continued her research in Arles: the definition of identity in its invisible, mythological and fictional dimensions. Her book Infra- was shortlisted for the 2018 Rencontres d'Arles book prize. In 2020, she won the national commission Regards du Grand Paris (Cnap x Ateliers Médicis). During the war in Nagorno Karabakh in 2020, she organised the "Photographers for Peace" print sale. She took Armenian nationality and began living between Paris and Yerevan. In 2021, Rebecca received the Fondation des Artistes and Cnap documentary photography grants, the Blow Up Press prize and the Transverse grant.

Léonie Pondevie

Born in Angers in 1996, Léonie Pondevie graduated from the École européenne supérieure d'art de Bretagne in Lorient in 2020. A photographer and visual artist, she is a member of the Collectif Nouveau Document.Her work, which combines photography, writing and installation, focuses on the human impact on territories. She develops her projects as part of creative residencies in France, notably in Brittany, Gironde and Normandy.In 2020, she was awarded a 5 étoiles residency by Stimultania, during which she produced a major work on the relationship between humans and the Rhône river, marking a turning point in her photographic work.

Rebekka Deubner 

Germany. She lives and works in the Paris region, combining her personal practice with press and commercial photography. Her work is a continuation of that part of the history of photography which claims an approach combining the banal, the micro-event and the writing of the self. Photography forms the core of his practice, combining with sound, editing, video, text and objects to create engaging and sensitive spaces.

Hélène Bellenger is a French photographer and iconographer who lives and works between Marseille and Paris. After studying law and art history, she specialised in contemporary photography. A graduate of the École Nationale Supérieure de la Photographie d'Arles, the visual photographer is developing a body of work that samples and reappropriates images from Western visual culture.
